Description
The League age/grade rules for playing will be governed by UIL rules. Players shall be classified by the fall grade of the season they are competing in and will not be moved down without HCYFL approval. If a player is too old for his grade level, they will be bumped up to the next grade level to play. Home school players will be in the grade that they would have naturally progressed to by starting public school in the year that they turned 5 before September 1st. Some sort of proof of residency in the district they are playing, a progress or report card must be in team folder by weigh-ins or that child will be ruled ineligible. For a home-schooled child, the child must be exempted by the league prior to the season weigh-ins and proof of residency must be established in the team folder.
Cheer registrants will generally registered and placed on teams once registration is completed.
Example:
Freshmen will consist of 1st Grade (6-7 yrs. old) and 2nd Grade (7-8 years old)
JV will consist of 3rd Grade (8-9 yrs. old) and 4th Grade (9-10 yrs. old)
Varsity 5th will consist of 5th Grade (10-11 yrs. old)
Varsity 6th will consist of
6th Grade (11-12 yrs. old)
